Gods

The Gods of the Pentagonal Dominion, the Decatheon, listed in elemental order:

  • The God of Death. Oldest of the Decatheon, having made it to adulthood before dying in battle. He is beloved by the people of his world, and he strives to protect them. He created the Contract of Souls, a complex magic spell that ensures all people born after the spell went into effect cannot have their souls permanently destroyed by any means. Sawyer is Olivian and maintains an Olivian marriae-bond with his wife, Laynie, who he has made into the Demigoddess of Mercy. They try to have a Godblood child every ten years, but if they are unable to conceive, they will assign a mortal as a drinker instead.

  • The God of Wind. He was born in the country once known as the Kingdom of Orochi. When he was a young child, the Ophidian Revolution occurred. He was emasculated by his own mother when she tried to pass him off as a girl. He later escaped to Aloutia, where he was adopted by a royal family who thought he was the reincarnation of their decently-deceased prince. He is the adopted brother of Flamboil. Windesoar is kind to those who respect him, but cruel beyond measure to those who cross him. Due to his genital mutilation, he cannot have Godblood children. However, he is not the kind of man who would want children or anyone having Wind powers unless he approved of them first. He has only three subordinate demis.

  • The Goddess of Plants. She feels like she has taken care of people all her life. When she was at the orphanage, she was always taking care of the younger kids. As the Plant Goddess, she is constantly ensuring a bountiful harvest so no child has to go hungry. But it’s been half a millennium, and she’s grown tired. Just for a day, she wishes somebody else could do her job. Cherribell used to have Godblood children frequently, but the trauma of watching her daughter Cherish—now known as Cherish the Monster—commit genocide has given her pause. She has had only two children since Cherish, both of whom she keeps a close eye on and is willing to kill if they abuse their powers.

  • The God of Life. Born in a highly structured, regimental society where everyone’s job is decided at birth, he rebelled against his fate. He ran away from his country and stumbled into the Garlandtown Orphanage. With the guidance and love of the caretakers, he found other lost children and brought them to the orphanage, too. When his home country found him, he was brutally executed. As a God, he tried to be helpful, as he only wanted to be loved. But he could not meet everyone’s expectations, and he was hated for helping one person while ignoring others. He as withdrawn from the public, and now spends his days drinking and having sex. He has many Godblood children through many women.

  • The God/Goddess of Fire. Flamboil’s physical sex is only known to those who have met him. Mortals do not know, but are encouraged to depict her in art any way they wish. His pronouns are anything, and can change mid-sentence. They were born to the royal family of Yetrius after the death of their son. However, when Windesoar arrived and they thought he was the prince’s reincarnation, Flamboil lost relevancy to their ambitions. She was born with genius intellect despite not being a Mind elemental. At the Garlandtown Orphanage, she helped teach Lucognidus (at the time, a deaf child) how to read and write. They grew close, and are still close to this day. When Flamboil became a God, he had such great skill with magic that she considers himself one of the greatest Fire magic users in all timelines. Flamboil has many Godblood children, including some through the Gods of the opposite sex. Those children, of course, have figured out what Flamboil’s biological sex is.

  • The God of Lightning. From a very young age, the boy has been a problem. His mother, thinking he and his sister Liqua were possessed by demons, threw them into the ocean. Deep Sea carried them to safety on another continent, where they found their way to the Garlandtown Orphanage. The caretakers at the orphanage had to physically restrain him at times, as he would do unspeakable acts to others, particularly Liqua and Machenerate. He was killed by a man when Sparkato tried to assault his daughter. As a God, the other Gods continue to restrain him as needed. Although he could be ‘cured’, Lucognidus has long-term plans for him which require his mind to remain the way it is. Sparkato has a dangerous mindset and believes that women who turn down sex ought to be ‘punished’. which led to his inane blessing: that his subjects are not allowed to decline sex. He has sex often, under controlled circumstances and with women who have gone through his regent Irene and Lucognidus. As such, he has many Godblood children.

  • The Goddess of Stones. As a child, she was brutally abused in every way by her father. The abuse was so bad it left her with dysfunctional legs, arms, and reproductive organs. She was rescued by Cherribell, and then Entomothy, who led them both to the Garlandtown Orphanage. She goes through intense phases where she admires someone so strongly that she cannot live without them, and then hates them passionately when they do not live up to her expectations. As a Goddess, she is infamously bad at using magic. She rarely performs magic for the mortal world, and when she does, it often goes awry. Due to her genital mutilation, she cannot have Godblood children.

  • The God of the Mind. Although thought of as the head God by many mortals, he is legally equal to the other nine. Of course, Sparkato, Icsnow, Machenerate, and Entomothy are under his control, while Sawyer, Flamboil, and Cherribell are his friends. He was born a slave and had his ears cut short, making him deaf. His sister ran away with him, but died in the snow. Entomothy rescued him before the cold could get to him, too, and took him to the Garlandtown Orphanage. He was the youngest of the orphans and the last to apotheosize into a God. The other nine were aware they had some power over their respective elements, but it wasn’t until Lucognidus joined them and instructed them in proper use of magic (which he himself learned from the Mind core) that they realized they could use their magic to conquer the world. Because of the versatility of his magic and his power over the hearts and minds of his subjects, Lucognidus lead the Conquering, and was henceforth given the title of “Conqueror God.” He has sex frequently, but only produces Godblood children so that he always has eight half-Spirits alive on the mortal planes at any given time.

  • The Goddess of Water. Abused by her brother Sparkato since she before she can remember, she knows no other life but pain and hatred. When her mother thought she and Sparkato were possessed by demons, she threw them both into Deep Sea, but the Demon Lord saved them and carried them to safety. As the Water Goddess, Liqua now despises Deep Sea because she has no power over him. She is a Water Goddess who cannot even control most of the Pentagonal Dominion’s waters, and the humifaction infuriates her. When Liqua learned about Ophidia, she became obsessed with them and now identifies as one. She despises men, though that does not change her sexual orientation: she is proudly bisexual and has frequent sex with submissive men, who provide her with many Godblood children.

  • The Goddess of Ice. Icsnow was born with a condition known as Living Doll Syndrome, which in her case, manifested as a myslemir without an access point. This means that any mind placed inside her cannot control her soul or body. Yet her body will live, as long as it is cared for. Icsnow’s mother left the infant on the steps of the Garlandtown Orphanage. With no mind within, there is no person. Icsnow is only a body, a shell that creates Ice elementrons. The body was surgically attached to the head of Malakia, a woman from a species who grow uniquely-shaped heads. Malakia’s head is shaped like a cradle, and Icsnow forever sleeps there, sending her elemental blood to Malakia.
